Sumner Schick today welcomed Vern Clemons to the firm’s Dallas office. Clemons, a health care industry veteran with more than two decades of experience in compliance law and transactional deals, will spearhead the firm’s expansion into health care law.

In her role at Sumner Schick, Clemons will provide clients with practical, problem-solving answers to business and legal concerns. Regardless of the matter at hand, she helps clients streamline operations and increase efficiency. Prior to joining the firm, Clemons spent fourteen years as a corporate attorney in the health care industry advising C-Suites regarding business and legal risks, counseling on strategies, and negotiating complex deals. She has comprehensive experience in acquisitions, transactional closings, joint ventures, compliance and regulatory oversight, contract drafting and negotiating, staff supervision, and training. Clemons is thoroughly versed in Anti-Trust, Anti-Bribery and Fair Competition, Anti-Kickback Statutes, Stark Law, False Claims Act, HIPAA, HiTECH, as well as other federal and state laws and regulations. In addition to her experience as in-house counsel, Clemons holds an LLM degree in Corporate Compliance and nearly two decades of political and New York law firm experience.
