Jacob runs a nationwide practice focusing on private equity transactions, negotiated acquisitions, and other complex business deals, business litigation, and commercial real estate, serving clients in a broad array of industries, including finance, healthcare, energy, technology, media, and manufacturing.
Jacob has represented a wide variety of clients in his ten years of practice, including private equity firms, capital managers, investment groups, commercial and residential mortgage servicers, a variety of healthcare providers, alternative credit brokers, commercial landlords, consultancy firms, technology distributors, apparel designers, insurance brokers, software developers, clean-energy tech manufacturers, and oilfield services companies. He has the broad legal knowledge to handle even the most complex cases, and takes a focused approach to every matter, typically representing his clients as their sole attorney even in highly complicated matters. Specializing in representation of businesses, Jacob has navigated numerous debt and equity finance transactions, corporate acquisitions and divestitures, project finance transactions, landlord-tenant matters, commercial bankruptcies, and matters involving the formation, operation, and liquidation of virtually every type of business entity, including regular filing of corporate documents in Texas, Delaware, New York, and in numerous foreign jurisdictions.
When the need arises, Jacob also conducts an extensive business litigation and arbitration practice, representing clients with respect to such matters as securities litigation, partnership litigation, fiduciary litigation, derivative suits, contract disputes, employment disputes, intellectual property and trade secret disputes, and administratively before state and federal regulators, including the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner, the Office of the Inspector General, and the Internal Revenue Service.
Jacob has been featured as a “Rising Star” in business and corporate law in Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers Magazine the last five years straight (2015-2019). He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and is a 2009 alumnus of DAYL’s Leadership Class.
Jacob earned an MBA in finance, with honors, from Texas Tech University in 2005, and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University in 2008, where he served as a member of the Student Bar Association’s Executive Committee and as a liaison to the Publications Committee of the Dallas Bar Association. He is licensed in Texas and New York and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Texas, Eastern District of Texas, and Eastern District of New York.
