Jacob Stasny focuses his practice on matters involving private equity transactions and other complex business deals, business litigation, and commercial real estate, serving clients in a broad array of industries, including finance, healthcare, energy, technology, and manufacturing.
He has represented a wide variety of clients in his nine years of practice, including private equity firms, capital managers, family offices, investment groups, commercial and residential mortgage servicers, a variety of healthcare providers, commercial and residential real estate developers, alternative credit brokers, commercial landlords, a frac-sand processor, professional and consultancy firms, technology distributors, apparel designers, insurance brokers, software developers, clean-energy tech manufacturers, electronics recyclers, oilfield services companies, various retailers big and small, and countless individuals. He has the broad legal knowledge to handle even the most complex cases, and takes a focused approach to every matter, typically representing his clients as their sole attorney even in highly complicated matters to streamline the engagement. Focusing on the representation of businesses, Jacob has navigated numerous debt and equity finance transactions, corporate acquisitions and divestitures, project finance transactions, commercial real estate transactions, landlord-tenant matters, commercial bankruptcies, and matters involving the formation, operation, and liquidation of virtually every type of business entity, in Texas, numerous other states, and offshore.
When the need arises, Jacob also conducts an extensive business litigation and arbitration practice, representing clients with respect to such matters as securities litigation, partnership litigation, fiduciary litigation, derivative suits, contract disputes, employment disputes, landlord-tenant matters, intellectual property and trade secret disputes, and administratively before state and federal regulators, including the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner, the Office of the Inspector General, and the Internal Revenue Service.
Jacob has been featured as a “Rising Star” in business and corporate law in Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers Magazine in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and is a 2009 alumnus of DAYL’s Leadership Class.
Jacob earned an MBA in finance, with honors, from Texas Tech University in 2005, and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University in 2008, where he served as a member of the Student Bar Association’s Executive Committee and as a liaison to the Dallas Bar Association’s Headnotes periodical.
